Chris Holmes has been coaching church leaders across many denominations since 2008, with over 1000 hours coaching laity, clergy, denominational leaders and bishops. In the United Methodist Church he leads the coaching team working with new district superintendents and directors of connectional ministry, as well as several conference leadership teams.

Chris authored, along with George Howard, the Coach Approach Skill Training (CAST) for ministry, which is an approved training program of the International Coach Federation. CAST has now trained over 1000 church leaders in the basic and advanced skills of coaching for ministry. He is author of many articles on coaching and his Amazon Best-selling book The Art of Coaching Clergy: A Handbook for Church Leaders, Clergy and Coaches was published in June 2018.

As a founding member of the Maryland Chapter of the International Coach Federation, Chris served as President from 2012-2014. Prior to coaching, he pastored churches for 26 years and served as District Superintendent of the Annapolis District in the Baltimore-Washington Conference. He is married to Margaret, and together they have three grown children. Chris is an accomplished watercolor artist.

He is certified by the International Coaching Federation as “Professional Certified Coach.” He is currently working with Africa University to develop a “culture of coaching” and has designed and led leadership development initiatives over the past 40 years of ministry. He has served as Deputy General Secretary for Mission and Evangelism with Global Ministries, Director of Development and Training with Community Development for All People, and Director of Connectional Ministries for the West Ohio Annual Conference.[/column]

Rev. William T. Chaney Jr. has been coaching and training leaders in churches, business and nonprofit organizations with over 500 coaching hours since 2005. William is an International Coach Federation Associate Certified Coach, a CliftonStrengths Certified Coach, Intentional Difference Discovery Coach, and a DISC facilitator.

Before serving in ministry William served as an Account Executive in an information systems company, area director for a national youth development organization and grant writer for health education nonprofit. Rev. Dr. Vicki Johnson was introduced to coaching by being coached.  In a dynamic and fruitful partnership with Chris Holmes, while serving an 8th year as lead pastor of a growing, downtown church, she completed a thesis project: “The Resilient Pastor: Leadership Practice in Crisis and Transition”.   Vicki received her doctor of ministry degree (Wesley Theological Seminary/Lovett Weems)  less than three years after the sudden, tragic death of her husband in 2011.  Then as chair of the Board of Ordained Ministry, she brought the Coach Approach Skills Training to Mississippi for board leaders. Youngsook Kang is a Coach credentialed by the International Coaching Federation (ICF) and endorsed by the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry of the United Methodist church for the ministry of coaching.  She previously served as Director of Mission and Ministry, Rocky Mountain Conference of the United Methodist Church, and District Superintendent of the Metropolitan District of the Rocky Mountain Conference. She also served as Deputy General Secretary for Mission Context & Relationship at the General Board of Global Ministries.

Rev. Chris Owens is the Regional Missional Strategist for the Southern Region of the BaltimoreWashington Conference. In that role Chris serves as a coach, trainer and consultant for church leadership, growth and missional engagement for the churches in his region. Chris has been under appointment for 13 years having served churches in rural, suburban and urban areas, having also served multicultural and multiracial congregations. He received coach training and mentoring through the Coach Approach Skills Training courses and currently devotes nearly half of his ministry to coaching clergy and laity into leadership excellence. When not pastoring and coaching, Chris is a local musician, singing and playing bass in two successful rock bands.

Rev. Dr. Karin Walker serves as the lead pastor at Fallston UMC in Fallston, Maryland for the last 18 months. She has served 4 pastoral appointments in the local church, each of which has grown under her leadership. Prior to Fallston, she served as a District Superintendent, leading leadership development efforts including large church staffing, the small church initiative, and the Appreciative Inquiry approach to change. She was a founding Director of Just Peace and has served as a mediator in the BWC for 15 years working with churches in conflict. She coached 30 pastors toward growing healthy congregations and mentors new pastors. She leads clergy and laity in the BWC and EPA conferences in dialogue about LGBT issues in various settings promoting healthy conversations.
